Re: Launch Query Designer from AO greyed out after GUI 7.40 install
Thanks Venkata - will this note eventually say 1.4.11 in it someplace?
Kind regards,

Re: Insert new crosstab by VBA
Hi Michael,
I don't think that this feature is available!
I just recorded a macro, but obviously there is no relation to any technical query Name :-)
ActiveWorkbook.Names.Add Name:="SAPCrosstab1", RefersToR1C1:= _
"=Tabelle1!R4C1"
Selection.UnMerge
ActiveWorkbook.Names.Add Name:="SAPCrosstab1", RefersToR1C1:= _
"=Tabelle1!R4C1:R88C11"
Selection.UnMerge
Everything that comes with AO is for usage on an inserted query, but not to insert queries.
You probably have to do it manually.
Best regards,
Martin
Re: Launch Query Designer from AO greyed out after GUI 7.40 install
Hi Kelly,
As you can see on the note : "SP Patch Level" is not available or the information about which Support Package contains the correction is missing". This described that it will probably be delivered on the SP 11.
During that you can check the SAP note 1921901 and use the setting DataSource/IgnoreQueryDesignerVersionCheck to open the query designer.
Thanks,
Diego Ferrary
Re: Launch Query Designer not working in AFO 1.4.8
Hi Patty,
Check the option decribed on the SAP note 1921901 and use the setting DataSource/IgnoreQueryDesignerVersionCheck to open the query designer.
Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SAP\AdvancedAnalysis\Settings\DataSource\ and add String Value IgnoreQueryDesignerVersionCheck applying value True.
Thanks,
Diego Ferrary
Re: Analysis for Office - Connectivity Issue
Thanks Deepu, it worked like a charm. Not sure how the add-in got disabled automatically, when it worked fine earlier. Anyhow, that resolved the first bit of issue I have. Now I am back to the earlier connectivity issue (which I am still trying to figure out).
I see the HANA database within the Data Source connectivity window. For connecting to it, I am using a generic id (created by the HANA architects) to access the database. The same id and connection works for my colleagues, but I still am running into "10709 Connection Fail" error.
My colleagues are running Analysis on Office 2010, whereas I have Office 2013. Analysis's PAM mentions supporting Office 13, so this should not be an issue.
Any clues?
Thanks,
HT
Re: Analysis for Office - Connectivity Issue
Hi Harshal Tannu,
The mention "10709 Connection Fail" seems to be related with the HANA driver that you have on your workstation. Could you please write the HANA driver version that you have on your workstation?
Check at the C:\Windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe on the driver tab. Is it the same of the HANA system?
In case of your connection is by the BI platform please check if the connection works from the CMC.
Kind regards,
Diego Ferrary
Re: Analysis for Office - Connectivity Issue
Thanks Diego for your note.
Driver version that I have for HANA is: 1.00.82.00 (both for 32 & 64 bit client). I am trying to connect to the database using the Web Services URL (BI Platform). I assume that the connection works as my colleagues are able to access the database using the same URL from Analysis for Office.
HANA drivers
Web Service URL connection:
The only difference I see on my workstation when compared to my colleagues is that I am running Office 2013, while they are on Office 2010. This should not be an issue with HANA connection right?

Re: Analysis for Office - Connectivity to HANA without ODBC Drivers
Hi Deepu -
Thank you for a very quick response. I was afraid that having ODBC driver is the only way to go through BO connection!.
What about using the BW connection for HANA views? When we tried leveraging the BW (BICS) connectivity, we are able to access HANA views and consume them through that route which does not force for ODBC drivers to be installed.
Basic testing has identified some bugs with the data formatting with this option but are there any other cons with going forward with this path? With this approach it seems like the system generates a query in BW (entry in RSRREPDIR) and calls the HANA views through a generated program...
Any inputs on this approach?
Regards,
Sudheer B.
Re: Analysis for Office - Connectivity to HANA without ODBC Drivers
Hi Sudheer,
your approach is for sure one which works, but that is not the recommended one.
You are not leveraging the performance benefit of Hana.
I would not go this way...

Thorsten
Re: Analysis for Office - Connectivity to HANA without ODBC Drivers
Thank you Thorsten.
Any other reasons than performance impacts for not recommending this approach?
Regards,
Sudheer B.
Re: Analysis for Office - Connectivity to HANA without ODBC Drivers
Also, knowing that we need ODBC drivers with either, there are two options for connecting to HANA
OLAP
Relational
For reporting on HANA views through Analysis for Office...do you recommend the OLAP connection or the relational connection (or does it even matter)? Thanks again!
Regards,
Sudheer B.
Re: Analysis for Office - Connectivity Issue
Hey Deepu, HANA system is on Rev 82, I confirmed it with our Architects. For AOLAP connection, I am not quite familiar with that. I can however confirm that I am able to connect to SAP HANA One via Lumira Desktop installed on my machine.
Was that information of any help?

Re: Analysis for Office - Connectivity to HANA without ODBC Drivers
With the BW approach you need to make sure the ID exists in BW and overhead on the BW system etc. Performance difference would be the biggest factor. I would be interested in knowing what you are seeing in terms of performance difference in this case.
Relational vs OLAP conection: I have not done any performance benchmarks or used the JDBC option with AO, so won't be able to comment.
SSO between SAP Analysis for Office and SAP HANA
Is SSO between SAP Analysis for Office and SAP HANA supported in the latest release?
I tried note 1889408 which doesn't work.
If SSO is not currently supported, any future plans to support this feature?
Currently users have to enter BOBJ ID/PW first then enter HANA ID/PW separately. HANA ID is a shared account which has high risks to be locked by some other users.
Re: SSO between SAP Analysis for Office and SAP HANA
The roadmap says HANA and SSO are there in 1.4
If you followed the note and it is not working and if you are on the latest Analysis Office 1.4, I recommend creating an incident with SAP support.
Re: Analysis for Office - Connectivity Issue
Gentlemen
The connectivity issue is now resolved. Trouble was with the HANA server alias and its IP address. OLAP connection that I was using previously was configured using the HANA server alias. My machine however is not a network machine, I bring my own machine at work. Thus at my client network side my machine is an external devise (not within the network). My machine thus failed to translate the server alias into an appropriate server IP.
We now have second OLAP connection created, which uses server IP address. And I have no issues connecting to HANA. A brilliant solution by one of our developers in the team.
Thanks guys for following the post and posting your replies.

Re: SSO between SAP Analysis for Office and SAP HANA
Looks like HANA SSO is still not supported, Page 35 of the admin guide.
https://websmp202.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/012002523100019922252014E/14SP10_aaoffice_admin_en.pdf
You can use an OLAP connection to connect via SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence platform. This
connection can be created directly in the CMC of the SAP BusinessObjects BI platform like BW system
connections to the platform. The SAP HANA OLAP connections are currently not SSO compatible.
Effective filters ~ Filter by Measure
Hi all
Is there a way to somehow display what filters by measure are applied on a sheet?
Just by looking at the report, or the analysis pane, you don't see it.
It would be nice if this could be made visible through the Effective Filters Info Field.
Would this be possible?
Thanks
