This sounds like RRI (report-to-report interface)

Hi all
We're using SAP BO 4.1 SP2 and Analysis for MS Office 1.4 and ANALYSIS OFFICE BIP ADD ON 1.4 SP6.
We can schedule Analysis Workbooks without problems, but do not have any possibility to access the instances. Not like with CR or WebI where you have the History Option in context menu..
We intended to use Analyis BOP AddOn to instantiate Workbooks and make them available for users not having Analyisis installed.
Would appreciate any help!

Ok, so if anyone else stumbles upon this thread with this question, it turns out I actually should have been using a variable on the analytic view instead of an input parameter. The input parameters are only activated when used in a calculated/restricted measure. By adding a variable in the semantic layer of the view, Analysis for Office automatically picked it up as a prompt.
Thanks!

Hi Martin,
I am using 1.4 and running the planning function via VBA.
Unfortunately "ShowPrompts" wont work in PF API. I receive a run-time error. "Invalid number of arguments"
Dim lResult As Long
lResult = Application.Run("SAPExecutePlanningFunction", "ShowPrompts", "PF_1")
Regards,
Denis
Hi Denis,
If it may work, I think it should be:
Application.Run("SAPExecuteCommand", "ShowPrompts", "PF_1")
... Afterwards you execute the planning function.
For query prompts you also need an initial refresh, otherwise "ShowPrompts" is not working:
Application.Run("SAPExecuteCommand", "Refresh", "DS_1")
Regards, Martin
Edit: which Version is x: 1.4.x ? It makes a difference :-)
Hi Martin, the version is 1.4.5.2826.
Unfortunately it does not work. If I run
Dim lResult As Long
lResult = Application.Run("SAPExecuteCommand", "ShowPrompts", "PF_3")
or
lResult = Application.Run("SAPExecuteCommand", "ShowPrompts", "SAPExecutePlanningFunction", "PF_3")
nothing happens. I get the error that I have to fill the variables.
The user guide says "You can call the workbook or data source prompts dialaog." Looks like you can not call the planning function prompts dialog at the moment.
Hi Denis,
I checked the idea place ... and it was requested to have the Variable prompt also for planning functions: API to trigger Prompts for Workbook : View Idea ... the idea's Status is "delivered".
Maybe Thorsten can give us some more insights?! Otherwise I would recommend you open a new idea for planning functions to get feedback from SAP or other users...

Does anyone use Analysis for Office against data on HANA? I am running into some problems with creating Calcuations in Analysis when we have hierarchies in the calculation view. Also I am not able to see the measures in the folders that were created in HANA.
Hi Patty,
By your issue description I guess that you are not in the latest version of Analysis for Office. Please write on the tread the version that I can help you.
Last delivered support package is SP6 of version 1.4.
If the issue persists with the latest version you will need a LOG file according to the SAP KBA 1909644 to check if you received some message from HANA database.
Thanks,
Diego Ferrary
Hi Daniel,
The Analysis Office BIP Add-On is quite new. It was recently released with AO 1.4 SP4, so there are some "missing functionalities" that are already on the backlog for future releases. As a workaround, you can use the CMC's Instance Manager to check the executed jobs.
You can refer to the chapter 10 of the "User Guide for AO" for more information and details regarding the scheduling functionality. You can download the User Guide by visiting the link below:

Hi Seungkwon,
Did you resolve this issue? If so what process did you follow please?

Hi Dominik,
This is an issue in a number of planning systems where there's no difference between blank and 0. Can you try putting a very small number (e.g 0.000000001) instead of absolute 0 and see if it works?
Hi Seungkwon,
Please check with your BASIS team if there's a trust relationship between your BW and ECC systems.
Hi Constantin,
just to complement the information: even using the Office for Mac Home & Business is not supported.
Thanks,
Diego Ferrary
Hi Roger,
If you have your SSO configured from Analysis for Office to your BW system the same SSO should be working to Query Designer. I will recomend you to check the configuration of SSO on GUI and also to check if you are working with Query Designer 7.x.
Thanks,
Diego Ferrary
Diego,
Thanks for responding. I took a look at the configuration and it appears to be set up correctly but when I click on the Query Designer button on the ribbon a log in window pops up. I'm running Version 1.4.2.2625 of SAP BusinessObjects Analysis Edition for Microsoft Office and Query Designer is 7.X Support Package 5 Revision 718.
As long as I enter my SAP credentials in the popup window query designer loads fine with the query I was running in Analysis. I would like to avoid the need for a second log on.
Thanks again for your help.

Roger,
As on my computer is working, could you please upgrade the AO to the SP6?
Please use link below to download it:
Thanks,
Diego Ferrary
Diego,
I'll give that a try. Not sure it will work in our environment since we are launching Analysis from the SAP Enterprise portal rather than through the BI Platform.
Thanks.
Roger
Hi Folks,
Quick question - probably an easy one. I'm wanting to play around with AAO (usually I work in HANA) and am not clear on how to connect to HANA.
In one version of AAO in on system, after clicking "Insert Data Source", shows three folders: Connections, Favorites and HANA. This version of AAO just seems to be called "Analysis for Office". I can connect to a HANA system fine with this version.
However, in another system, I have a laptop with "Advanced Analysis for Office" pre-installed. When I similarly try to insert a new data source, all I see are SAP connections - no options to connect to HANA.
Any ideas? Also, what's the difference between "Analysis" and "Advanced Analysis" for Office?
Thanks,
Jody
